Teachers behaving badly!

UK newspapers have recently reported two instances of "teachers behaving badly": the "leakage" of examination questions by examiners who are also teachers, and a story about a school that manipulates its performance in school league tables by expelling "weak" students (see, for example, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-41095172 and http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-41132701). As explored in this blog, these are just two instances of so-called "unintended consequences" following the imposition of poorly-thought-through performance measures. In my view, there are no "unintended consequences" - just plenty of evidence of very poor thinking... Beware unintended consequences To set the scene
